Richmond River Independent

Front Page

My first front page!

Issue 14 of The Independent featured a story on the historic Tabulam Bridge, and it’s pending closure now that it has been superceded.

The cover has my image (taken from a drone) of a young local lying on a painted slogan of definance on the bridge.

Local Media

The Richmond River Independent

The Richmond River Independent is a local newspaper with 30k distribution, covering the Richmond Valley – from Evans Head to the east, through Coraki, Casino and west to Tabulam and Kyogle.

The Independent is a new publication run by locals, following the recent closure of the historical Richmond River Express Examiner.

I contribute sports images to the Independent, and featured in Issue 1 on the (all important!) back page.

Hockey

Hockey NSW

Credentialed by Hockey NSW (courtesy of The Weekly Times) to shoot the Sydney Pride in the Sultana Bran HockeyOne tournament at the Sydney Hockey Centre at Olympic Park.

Both the Pride Mens and Womens squads featured a number of local Ryde Panthers in the line-up.

Among photos taken were images used by Hockey NSW for the match-day programme for the 2019 Mens Semi Final.

I found Daniel to be very personable and easy to work with, and he adhered to all relevant instructions and processes required before and during the games. Daniel was kind enough to supply me with a number of his photographs for our organisation to use and I found them to be of extremely high quality …

The Weekly Times (TWT)

The Weekly Times, or TWT to the locals, is distributed around the Ryde / Gladesville / Hunters Hill areas of Sydney. Approximate circulation is 30k.

Photos provided are of local and community sports, including the Gladesville Ravens Womens NPL soccer, and Ryde Panthers hockey club.

The Ryde area has a rich history on club sport participation, and to photograph victories in semi-professional leagues – the Gladesville Ravens winning the NSW Womens NPL2 title, and the Ryde-Hunters Hill Panthers Women winning the Metro League, was a big deal. These are memories of significant achievements for the players and the clubs involved.

The Weekly Times has, in recent times, had the pleasure of dealing with Daniel Cohen from DC Sports Photography. Daniel was able to produce excellent quality imaged across a number of different sports covered by our newspaper.
